What an interesting day

I had an interesting day today. It is like everything’s gone wrong and all that I am doing is damage control. Sigh.

First my bro’s flight got shifted earlier and we weren’t notified although they claim they did. Bro’s been screaming over the other side of the phone when all that I am doing is to talk some sense into my bro and speak to the staff of AirAsia. To my surprise, I am actually quite calm. Towards the end, manage to get AirAsia to put my brother in a free hotel accommodation at a 4 star hotel plus 2 way airport transfer. So case 1 settled.

Case 2 is with regards to my company, AAF wrote me an urgent email to contact AAF with regards to the show which is supposed to be in April. After we have successfully commission close to 30 artists for their works, now all we can do is to bring their works to the gallery level. And for the next show with AAF, now we need to start cracking our head on what to put up.

After thinking that everything is good, got myself on the flight to Kch, and for the first time, I am stopped for bringing in liquid, which is definitely less than 100ml, and the woman just won’t speak any sense and just want to throw my toner away, sigh. If it is not because of CNY I would have cursed her entire family of no good ending.

Got myself in Kch, I’ve got tax for the table turn which I bought for my uncle. Paid a small amount of tax (30%). Thank God they do not require a receipt for the goods bought. Phew...

Energizer XP4001

Just got myself an Energizer XP4001 for myself last night while shopping at Funan. Got myself this battery pack as an insurance for my iPhone as the battery of iPhone can sometimes be sucky (I can only blame myself for that as the battery can last me 3 days with normal usage, that is if I treat it like my Nokia). I have yet to experience flat out battery, but guess with this, I will not need to keep on charging my phone whenever I see that my battery on my phone is down to 40%.

Till now, this product is quite cool, other than it will not charge my Nokia E71, which Energizer is currently looking into the matter and let's hope that they can resolve this ASAP.

2009 is in the past right now, and here we are in the New Year. How’s your 2010? For my 2010, it had been interesting. For the first week alone, I have witness 3 interesting incident on the first week along.

For the first incident, I was at the bus stop waiting for the bus which will take me to my office. While playing with my phone, there is a girl standing next to me, talking. When the bus stopped right in front of us, I dig into my bag for my ezlink card, which I believed she’ve done the same. And short moment after that, something dropped, looking down, I saw a phone and in the next second, squashed by the bus. With my jaw dropped, I said ‘I’m sorry’ to this girl, and she replied in loud tone ‘I just bought that…’

For the second incident, a friend’s mom called me up for help. When I received that call, the first thing that come to my mind, what does she want, I have not talked to her for years, the next thing I know, she need my help to so call ‘regain the memory of her son’ which have fallen from the bus and awake from coma with zero memory. So the conversation went on and on and eventually passed the phone to her son, which as if I am talking to a voicemail, and a slight ‘ok’ here and there. Sigh

The third one is interesting. My friend who gave birth to a baby girl and that’s after she has done many times of scanning that the baby was a boy. Strange enough, the boy’s balls must have shrunk after knowing that the world’s so cruel :p

Morey Eel

Morey eel, one of the most common fish in Dayang, where you see a big crack, tilt your head a little and you will see them there shying away from you unless provoked.

Morey eel cannot see or hear very well and rely on their acute sense of smell. Although they are sort of blind, their scaleless body is covered in mucus toxin.

If they happen to attack your finger during interaction, consider it gone :)

Went out for a photo shoot last weekend with friends from Clubsnapz and guess what, my white balance is seriously out. God... after tweaking and match my settings with ZM, finally manage to get the image that I wanted but still it seems a little soft. Sigh...

Will try the new set of settings which I just found online:

iPhone

I told myself never to follow trend as I wanted to be exclusive all the time. This time round, I fight myself no more. Got myself an iPhone :p

I know the battery is crap before I got the iPhone (in actual fact, if I keep my fingers off my iPhone, the battery can actually last longer than my E71). The only reason why I am getting the iPhone is only because I wanted to get a data plan for my current phone, and by checking the rates around, and by paying the same amount, I can get an iPhone for $248, I said why not?

Now, I have pushed my iPhone to the maximum, it is just insane to know how many applications are there available for the phone, and yeah, I cannot keep my fingers off my phone. Grr.

If you asked me if I regretted getting the phone? I would say, nah, I am very happy with it, all I need to do is to have a backup phone just in case my iPhone goes flat.

Walk your cat

Have you ever seen anyone walk their cat like a dog? Well when I first saw it 2 weeks back, I thought, that old man must be crazy to walk their dog, and Nick convinced me that the old man is walking his dog. To my surprise I saw the same old man walking his cat few days later from the on the running area near MRT. Smiling to myself when thinking about that and open the door, and Nick’s mom asked me why am I grinning to myself.

After telling her what happened, they also wanted to walk their cats, but they are just too timid to go out. Guess the old man is not crazy after all.

Parrot fish

Parrotfish are named for their dentition; their numerous teeth are arranged in a tightly packed mosaic on the external surface of the jaw bones, forming a parrot-like beak with which they rasp algae from coral and other rocky substrates^[3] (which contributes to the process of bioerosion). Many species are also brightly coloured in shades of blue, green, red and yellow.
Although they are considered to be herbivores, parrotfish eat a wide variety of reef organisms, and it is important to note that they are not vegetarian. Species such as Bolbometopon muricatum include coral (polyps) in their diet.^[3] Their feeding activity is important for the production and distribution of coral sands in the reef biome and can prevent algae from choking coral. The teeth grow continuously, replacing material worn away by feeding. The pharyngeal teeth grind up coral rock that the fish ingests during feeding. After they digest they excrete the rock as sand helping to create small islands and the sandy beaches of the Bahamas and Caribbean. One parrotfish can produce 90 kg of sand each year.^[4]

Maximum sizes do not vary widely within the family, with the majority of species reaching 30–40 centimetres (12–16 in) in length. However, a very few species, such as the bumphead parrotfish reach up to 100 centimetres (39 in).^[3]

Their bodies are deep, with large, thick cycloid scales, large pectoral fins and homocercal tail fins.

Parrotfish use their pectorals as their primary means of locomotion, engaging the tail only to achieve higher speed.

Anemone

Anemone, all along I thought it was a rock, but from my last dive, I just realised that it is actually a type of snail. They move, very slowly. Clown fish is the only fish that are not affected by their host anemone sting and shelter from predators within its tentacles.

This anemone can be touch using your palm, but not the back of your hand. When the hair is touched, it mechanically triggers the cell explosion and it injects a dose of poison into the flesh of the aggressor or prey which gives it a sticky feeling. Be careful not to accidentally touch it other than your palm.

Diving updates

Been addicted to diving lately, took my Open Water Diver in August, took my Advance Open Water in October after my CPA examinations.

Well I will be creating a category called Diving in my blog to note all the stuff that we can touch and what cannot be touch underwater even though the general rule of diving is leave nothing but bubbles.

Update from first dive trip, went to Dayang for my first trip of diving, and for the first time, I am breathing underwater, and have a close encounter of what we never see on land.

Update from second dive trip, I nearly died, had lots of cuts on my body. Went to do drift diving in my course, and we went to Rayner’s Rock where the current is the strongest but it is the most beautiful place I have been. Drift diving is suppose to be relaxing but in this case, due to the lack of preparation, we are caught in 2 current, one current bringing us forward and another current going opposite direction from below.

As I am lack of experience, and trying to avoid hitting to corals, trying to go lower thinking that current might be less stronger, I was wrong, I was pulled down by another current and smacked onto the rocks up and down, imagine swinging pillow up and down the wall, that’s how I felt like. Tries to push myself away from the corals have resulted lots of cuts on my palm.

Is it worth it you ask me, I would say, I would want to go again, but not during monsoon season.

I'm confused

Out of the blue, you appeared, smiling, talking, yet I am not sure of your identity. Now you are trying to get closer, yet not too close that I can bite, but close enough.

You said you are straight yet you look gay. Asked you about your gf, you said that she is a Singaporean, and all that crap. Now you are asking me out for more lunches, tried to grab my hand from behind, I am really confused.

Brought me out for dim sum, I said ‘why not’, and then you refuse for me to get a drink to start, you said ‘I’ve got a nice drink stall that I wanna show you’, I said ‘okay’. Then we done eating and walk to near your office where you ask me if I drink ginger tea, I said ‘no harm trying’, thinking it is like cold ginger tea or something. You bought 2 scalding hot ginger tea on a very sunny day, walking and drinking in a park near your office.

‘You seem stressed’ I asked. In my head, I was just thinking, what if he asked me the questions that I have no answer for. You tried to pry me for my holiday schedule, and what do I do etc. Does a straight man talk about this?

As we sit in silence for a good 10 minutes, the clouds start to gather and fearing of rain, I leave...

A new chapter
